LIFE INSURANCE AND LIVING BENEFITS

Sustaining your family’s lifestyle during an illness or loss of a loved one is our main concern.  Your ability to pay your bills, your mortgage and maintain your children’s extra-curricular activities are important.  Adequate protection based on your family’s needs will provide you with the right amount of coverage your family requires.

If you become disabled or suffer a critical illness, your ability to earn an income can be compromised.  The physical and emotional strain of a disability, critical illness or loss of a loved one can be severe and when you combine that with the potentially damaging financial impact, the results are devastating.

DISABILITY INSURANCE

Disability strikes working people more frequently than a pre-mature death.  For example, a 20 year old man is approximately three times more likely to be disabled for a period of 90 days or more than he is to die before the age of 65.  Alternatively, a 35 year old woman is approximately seven times more likely to face a disability than death before the age of 65.

If you become disabled, your ability to earn income may be compromised, and your ability to pay bills or save for retirement may decline.  Disability insurance plans are designed to help you meet your income requirements so you can focus on recovering from your disability and return to the workforce and lifestyle.

If you had a machine that could print you money, would you not insure that machine in case it broke down?

CRITICAL ILLNESS

Getting sick isn’t something any of us like to think about.  But it happens.  One in four Canadians will suffer a critical illness.  Thanks to improvements in healthy living and advances in medical science the chance of survival are greatly increased.  But getting better costs money.

Critical Illness insurance is protection that can provide you with a tax free lump sum of payment if you suffer from any number of covered illnesses and the survival period is satisfied.  The physical and emotional strain of a critical illness can be severe, and when you combine that with the potentially damaging financial impact, the result can be devastating.

This is where critical illness insurance benefit can help.  First you are still alive to enjoy the benefit.  You are free to spend it as you wish – such as to help cover loss income, pay for private nursing or out –of-country treatment.  Even to pay off your mortgage!  It can help you when you need it most so you can focus on recovery.

SEGREGATED FUNDS

Pacific Place Financial Services and Bridgeforce Pacific Place provide investment solutions with segregated funds through its life insurance partners.

Segregated funds are similar to a mutual fund but with an insurance wrap.  While segregated funds can be registered (RRSP) or non-registered (non-RRSP) it offers death benefits and maturity guarantees; the segregated fund be paid directly to your named beneficiary thus avoiding probate, you keep your financial affairs private and in certain circumstances provide creditor protection.

Segregated funds and mutual funds both offer investors an opportunity to grow their investment capital and provide access to professional fund management as well as the ability for investors to diversify with different fund types.

For RRSP’s, TFSA, LIRA, RRIF, RESP’s and annuities we offer a wide range of products and services to meet your needs.

MUTUAL FUNDS

Pacific Place Financial Services provides Mutual Funds through Investia Financial Services.  Investia is also a wholly owned subsidiary of iA Financial Group, a life and health insurance company founded in 1892.

The fourth largest life and health insurance company in Canada, iA Financial Group contributes to the financial well-being of over 4 million Canadians, employs over 5100 people and administers and manages $115 billion in assets.

For RRSP’s, TFSA, LIRA, RRIF and RESP’s we offer a wide range of products and services to meet your needs.

Mutual funds are based on a simple principle: pooling your money with that of many other investors in order to offer you access to global markets and a large selection of investments, as well as the flexibility to invest whatever you want, whenever you want.

ANNUITIES

Annuities are one of the options to help you fund your retirement needs.  They are an ideal investment when you want to turn all or part of your savings into a safe and guaranteed income stream.

Annuities are distinguished from other retirement income options as they are binding contracts between you and the issuer and able to provide you with a set amount of money on a payment schedule (monthly, semi-annually, annually).  The size and the duration of the payment is determined by the original investment, payment frequency, type of annuity, age and gender.

For more information contact us to arrange a time to meet with one of our advisors.

LONG-TERM CARE

There will be a real chance that in some point in your life you may need to enter a long-term care facility or receive special medical care in your home.  This type of care can be very costly, depending on the level of care wanted or needed.  In most instances these costs may not be covered by your government health plan.

Where will the money come from to pay for the care you need?  Long term care can provide you with the benefit that you require.  With good financial planning, you may need to draw from your savings and you will be prepared for all the different stages of your life.

EXTENDED HEALTH AND DENTAL COVERAGE

Many common healthcare expenses such as dental work, prescription drugs, prescription eyewear, private and semi-private hospital room accommodation and more are not covered by your government health insurance plan.

If you are not covered by a group plan – example, if you are self-employed – these expenses are normally paid out of your own pocket.  Extended health and dental coverage can help cover these costs and more.
